>> Configuration Wizard
The Configuration Wizard is a software tool that makes it easy to change the basic settings for GOM Media Player. The first time you launch GOM Media Player, the Configuration Wizard will pop up automatically. The first window of the Configuration Wizard allows you to choose your display mode. “Normal Mode” is recommended for most users, while “High-Quality Mode” is designed for high-performance computers and displays. If you plan to use GOM Media Player for TV Output, select “TV Output Mode” for optimal results.
After you choose a display mode, click the [Next >] button to continue.
This window lets you choose basic codec and speaker settings.
GOM’s built-in codecs are designed to improve quality while consuming fewer system resources. If you aren’t familiar with manually configuring video and audio codecs, it’s highly recommended that you leave these two boxes checked.
For speaker settings, choose the option that best represents the speaker setup your computer uses.
To continue, click [Next >]
This window lets you choose which file types to associate with GOM Media Player (i.e. what kind of files will open with GOM Media Player automatically when you click them). On this screen all the video types are divided into groups to make it easier to understand which formats relate to which type of media. If you plan to use GOM Media Player as your default media player, we recommend leaving all of these boxes checked. Keep in mind that you can adjust your file association settings at any time after this initial setup (Changing file associations is explained in more detail here).
This window lets you set the default subtitle display size and GOM Media Player’s process priority.
Regardless of which option you select here, precise adjustments to subtitle font size can be made at any time from the GOM Media Player preferences window (Subtitle preferences are explained in more detail here).
Process priority refers to the amount of system resources your computer allocates to GOM Media Player in relation to other system tasks. Setting priority to “High” will maximize the amount of resources your computer will allocate to running GOM Media Player to make sure your videos play as smoothly as possible. However, because GOM Media Player doesn’t require much processing power to function properly, it’s usually unnecessary to set the process priority to “High” unless you’re using a low-performance computer.
Click the [Finish] to close the Configuration Wizard and launch GOM Media Player (if you don’t want to launch GOM Media Player immediately, uncheck the box before you click [Finish])
Remember that the Configuration Wizard can be run again at any time after this initial setup, and can be accessed via GOM Media Player’s start menu folder (the application is called “GOM Wizard” in this folder), or from the Preferences window of GOM Media Player itself (push the [F5] button on your keyboard to open the Preferences window, then click the [Reset] bottom at the bottom left corner and choose “Start Configuration Wizard”).
